About Me
Salutations! I’m Joe, and I’d like to thank you sincerely for visiting my page. Allow me to share a bit about myself and my massage practice.
How Did I Get Here?
My journey with functional anatomy and kinesiology began in 2013. This is the year that I started rock climbing. I quickly became fascinated with learning more about how body mechanics made my movements more efficient. Just like with any high-demand physical activity, I soon found myself with specific aches and pains I hadn’t felt before. I often found myself looking at diagrams of the muscular system to figure where exactly I was feeling sore and looking into what I could do to get myself straightened out. I also began getting massages occasionally and developed a great appreciation for this type of self care.
Around this same time of my life, I became interested in yoga. Initially, this was a means to supplement my climbing. I wanted to make sure I was flexible and strong in ways other than just pushing and pulling my way up a wall. Fortunately, I was practicing with people who showed me that yoga is also a deeply spiritual practice that allows one to connect with one’s body on a deeper level. I soon found myself becoming more curious with the subtle sensations and energetic currents within my body, and a sitting meditation practice soon followed.
Fast forward to today, and I have spent the last few years developing a unique style of massage in which I seek to bridge these worlds of technical knowledge of the muscular and skeletal systems with the mindfulness practice I have been cultivating for nearly half my life. I see massage as a means to heal and improve the physical body, as well as a meditative practice for both practitioner and recipient. It is my hope that your session with me is more than just a massage, but a well-rounded personal experience that leaves you feeling closer to yourself. We all deserve that.
